What does Hoshizaki error code Dor mean?
The door switch tells the controller whether the door is closed. If the door stays open for more than 2 minutes, the controller sounds the door alarm and shows dor. The same alarm can appear if the switch itself has failed, because a switch that no longer reports the door correctly looks the same as a door left open. The manual lists both causes: the door left open and a failed door switch. The first is easy to see and to correct. The second is suspected when the door is clearly closed and dor stays on. A door that is slightly ajar because of a bent hinge, a worn gasket or a shelf item pressing on the door can also hold the switch open. Closing the door normally clears the alarm, and if it does not, the manual's action is to call a qualified service technician.

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code Dor on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A product or a shelf pressing on the door so that it will not seat
- A bent or worn hinge that holds the door off its latch
- A switch actuator that has been knocked out of position
Safe checks before calling for service
- Close the door firmly and see whether dor clears.
- Check that nothing inside blocks the door from seating, and check the gasket.
- Open and close the door once to see whether the alarm follows the door.
- If dor stays with the door shut, note it and call service.
How a technician diagnoses error code Dor
- Confirm whether the door is closing and latching fully.
- Inspect the hinge, gasket and door alignment.
- Check the door switch and its actuator with a meter.
- Test the switch wiring back to the controller.
- Replace the switch after the test shows it does not change state.
- Switch wiring runs inside the door frame and panels near live circuits.
- A meter test of the switch is needed to tell a failed switch from a door that is slightly ajar.
- A door that will not seat can also let warm air in, which affects the cabinet.
How error code Dor differs from similar codes
Dor is an operator alarm tied to the door; unlike E01 and E02, no thermistor is involved.
