The M3R is the Turbo Air M3 Series upright reach-in refrigerator, with one to six solid doors. A data plate number such as M3R19-1-N6 or M3R24-2-N gives the width and the number of doors. The cabinet uses an electronic controller with an R-sensor in the return air and up and down buttons for the set point.
When an M3R runs warm, we start with the condenser and the door seals, then the fans and the sensor. After a power outage the compressor waits about three minutes before it restarts, so a cabinet that seems dead for a short time may be fine. If frost builds, you can start a manual defrost from the controller by holding the up button and pressing down five times, and then call us if the frost returns quickly. A six-door M3R has six gaskets and six hinges, so a draft at one door can warm a whole shelf, and we test each door in turn.

About three minutes. The controller holds it off to protect the compressor, so give it a few minutes before you assume it has failed. The delay is built in and protects the compressor.
How do I start a manual defrost on an M3R?
Hold the up button and press the down button five times. Use it for a one-time frost problem, and call us if frost builds again soon. Use it sparingly and not as a daily habit.
