Steelheart A-Series units are the reach-in uprights you see in restaurant kitchens: R1A and R2A refrigerators, F1A and F2A freezers, PT pass-throughs, RN and RT versions and DT dual-temp models. Letters at the end of the model number show the door style, such as FG for full glass, FS for full stainless solid and HS for half doors.
The controller shows E01 and E02 for sensor problems, Hi and Lo for temperature alarms after two hours, and dor for the door. Because these use R290, sealed system work stays with us.
We start with the condenser and air filter, door gaskets and switch, and the sensors, then look at defrost and the compressor. The data plate on the cabinet gives the model and serial number, which we use to confirm the door style and parts before the visit.

What does the model number suffix mean?
FG is full glass, FS is full stainless solid, and HG and HS are half doors in glass or solid. The letters help us bring the right gaskets and parts.
Why does the unit use R290?
R290 is a flammable hydrocarbon refrigerant. It carries safety rules for service, so please do not open the sealed system or use mechanical tools to clear ice.
Does summer heat affect it?
The unit is built for ambient air up to 100 F. A hot kitchen and a dirty condenser push it toward the limit, so we check airflow first when temperatures rise.
