The MKG is a gas griddle with a 1 in. Polished plate, in widths from 24 to 72 in. Models include MKG-24, MKG-24-E, MKG-24-ST, MKG-36, MKG-36-E, MKG48, MKG60 and MKG72. A plain model has a snap action thermostat and a standing pilot, the -E has an electric thermostat and the -ST has a solid state thermostat. The model and serial are on the data plate inside the cabinet wall behind the grease box.
We check the pilot, the burners and the thermostat. Manifold pressure matters: gas pressure swings of more than 25 percent on natural gas, or 10 percent on propane, cause pilot problems. Strong drafts also upset pilots.
At any gas smell, get everyone out and phone the gas utility from outside. Older griddles are repairable in many cases, and we tell you when one is not.

What do the -E and -ST endings mean?
-E is an electric thermostat and -ST is a solid state thermostat. A plain model uses a snap action thermostat with a standing pilot. The data plate confirms which you have.
Why does my griddle smoke so much?
The heat may be set too high, the plate may be dirty or unseasoned, or there may be too much oil or fat on it.

Yes. Older MagiKitch'n griddles are part of our work. The price is in writing first, and an unsound repair gets flagged. Workmanship is warranted for 30 days.
