Huebsch Quantum Washer Error EC02: Card Reader Did Not Answer
EC02 on a Huebsch Quantum frontload or topload washer means the card reader did not answer the washer's control in time. Try the same card again, inserting or swiping it slowly and all the way, then try a second card. If neither card is accepted, put an out-of-order card on the washer and phone us or send the online form.
Medium: card payment fails on the machine, but a single failed swipe is common and may clear.

What does Huebsch error code EC02 mean?
When a customer presents a card, the control sends a request to the reader and waits a short time for the answer. If the reader does not reply in that time, the control gives up and shows EC02. The customer swipes and nothing starts, and the washer stands idle while the code shows. Coin handling is separate, so a coin drop on the same machine can still work. A single bad swipe is common, so one failure alone is not a diagnosis. The manual's owner step is simply to try the card again, and a repeat points at the reader, its cable or the link. The list covers the card and its strip or chip, the reader face for dirt, wear or damage, the cable between the reader and the control, and the reader with the control's reader connection. Trying a second card shows whether the card or the reader is at issue. The code does not say whether the reader or the control board answered slowly. The display text is EC02, and it applies to the FLW1535C frontload and TLW13C topload families.

Safe checks before calling for service
- Try the same card again, inserting or swiping it slowly and all the way.
- Try a second card to learn whether the card or the reader is at issue.
- Put an out-of-order card on the washer if neither card is accepted.
- Then phone us or send the online form to arrange service.
- Tell us which cards failed and whether other machines accepted them.
How a technician diagnoses error code EC02
- Read EC02 and test with two different known good cards.
- Inspect and clean the reader face and slot.
- Check the cable between reader and control for damage and loose plugs.
- Measure the reader supply voltage.
- Swap in a test reader to see whether the response time improves.
- Check the control's reader connection only after the reader and cable pass.
- The reader connection joins the control board that also carries line-voltage terminals.
- A single bad swipe is common, so we test the reader with cards of our own before judging.
- The code does not say whether the reader or the control board answered slowly, so we test both.
