Unplug the machine before checking the knife, plate or auger, and never reach past a guard or into the head. If it will not start, the head and pan interlock or a switch is the first check. A smeared grind means a dull knife or a plate that is no longer flat. Gear noise or oil at the gear case needs a look inside.

What does auto-feed mean?
An auger feeds the meat down to the grinder head so the operator does not push it by hand. If the auger stops feeding, we check its drive and the gears behind it.
Why does my grinder smear the meat?
A dull knife or a plate that is no longer flat is the usual reason, and we replace them and check the head fit. A clean, even grind returns once they are fresh.
What happens when the auger stops feeding?
