- DD-40
- DD-60
Repairs this series usually needs
- Bowl lift or gear problems
- Belt slipping
- Motor overload trips
- Grease leaking from the gear case
- Bowl guard or switch problems
The F-20, DD-40 and DD-60 are Blakeslee’s floor planetary mixers, in 20, 40 and 60 quart sizes. Bakeries and kitchens use them for dough and batter, and the data plate shows the model. There are stainless steel versions too, such as the DD-40 SS and DD-60 SS.
When a mixer misbehaves, we check what carries load: the bowl lift, the gears, the belt and the motor. A belt that slips, a motor that trips its overload and grease at the gear case are the common signs. We also test the bowl guard and its switch, which must be closed for the mixer to start.
Never reach into the bowl while the mixer is plugged in. Switch it off at the breaker before anyone looks, and call us. A written price precedes any repair.

Where is the mixer model number?
It is on the data plate, and it reads F-20, DD-40 or DD-60. Have it ready when you call, and we confirm parts before the visit.
Why does my mixer trip its overload?
A heavy load, a slipping belt or a worn gear can all do it. Do not keep restarting it. Switch it off and call us, and we test the motor and the drive.
Do you repair stainless DD mixers?
Yes. We repair the stainless SS versions as well as the standard machines, with a written price first. Tell us the model from the plate and what the mixer does.
