The SD Series are Marsal’s gas deck ovens. The model on the data plate, such as an SD 236, SD 660 or SD 1060, tells us the size. The control door at the front is vented and hides the thermostat and the safety valve, so a deck oven that looks fine from outside can have a problem behind that door.
If an SD oven drifts off its temperature, the thermostat and the safety valve are our first stop. A pilot that keeps going out leads us to the pilot assembly and the thermocouple. Uneven baking sends us to the burners and the deck. The vented door matters because heat and dust build up there over time.

Where are the thermostat and safety valve on an SD oven?
They sit behind the vented control door at the front of the oven. We open it, test both parts and clean the area, because dust and grease collect there.
What is an SD oven stacked under an MB oven called?
It is sold as an MBC combination oven. The data plate on the SD part and the MB part tell us which parts each deck uses.
Is an older SD oven worth repairing?
Often yes, since the chamber and frame last for years. A written quote comes first, and if the oven is not worth fixing we will say so.
