Huebsch Quantum Washer Error Code EI05: Infrared Invalid Data

EI05 means the data that arrived over the infrared link was invalid or out of range. On the frontload control the manual explains it as a programming option value that is not allowed, so recheck the value on the handheld and try again.

Medium · inspection needed

Low: a rejected programming entry that leaves existing settings untouched.

What does Huebsch error code EI05 mean?

When someone changes cycle or price options with a handheld device, each value travels through the infrared window and the Quantum control checks it before storing it. Every option has an allowed range. If the number that arrives falls outside it, or the data is otherwise unusable, the control refuses to store it and displays EI05. The refusal is the protection working as intended: the washer keeps the settings it already had, so existing cycles do not change because of one rejected entry. The wash circuits play no part, and laundry continues as usual. Owners meet the code while programming, typically after typing a value that the setup sheet does not allow or sending a file that holds one. An earlier change that left a conflicting value can cause the same rejection later. Only when good values are still refused does the control's memory deserve suspicion.

Affected models and control systems

This applies to Quantum frontload washers in the FLW1535C family and Quantum topload washers in the TLW13C family, including Huebsch units.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

What you may notice

  • EI05 appears right after an option value is sent from the handheld
  • The new setting does not take effect and the old one remains
  • Washing is unaffected between programming sessions

Possible causes

Listed in Huebsch's documentation

  • Option value outside its allowed range
  • Wrong file or settings stored on the handheld
  • Earlier option change that left a conflicting value
  • Control memory rejecting good values

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code EI05 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • A price or time entry keyed with an extra digit on the handheld
  • A settings file saved from a different washer model and sent to this one

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Recheck the programming option value on the device and try again.
  2. Enter only values that fall inside the range your setup sheet allows.
  3. Keep the device aimed at the control until the transfer ends.
  4. If the rejection continues, write down the option number and the value you were sending, then tell us.

How a technician diagnoses error code EI05

  1. Read the code and identify which option was being written.
  2. Compare the value with the allowed range for that option in the programming guide.
  3. Check the file on the handheld for values that conflict with options already stored.
  4. Resend a single known-good value to see whether the control accepts it.
  5. If valid values are still rejected, test the control's memory and replace the board only then.
! Leave this to a technician
  • Finding which stored option conflicts with the new one means reading the control's own programming data in service mode.
  • Reprogramming the wrong option can change prices, cycle times or temperatures for every load.
  • A control that rejects valid values needs board-level testing behind the front panel, near live 208 to 240 V circuits.

How error code EI05 differs from similar codes

EI05 is about the content of the data. EI03 refuses a command, and EI09 reports data that was damaged in transit.

EI05Questions about Huebsch error code EI05
Did EI05 change my existing settings?

No. The control rejected the entry and kept what it had.

How do I know the right range?

The programming guide or your setup sheet lists the allowed values for each option.

Why does it appear for a value that looks normal?

A conflict with another stored option can make a normal-looking value invalid.
