Huebsch Quantum Washer Error Code E FL: Fill Error

E FL on a Huebsch Quantum washer means the pressure switch did not open to report that the water reached the programmed level, within 30 minutes or the programmed time. Confirm both supply valves behind the washer are fully open and look at the hoses for kinks. If the supply checks out and the code returns, we can schedule service.

Medium · inspection needed

Medium: the cycle stalls without finishing, and running water on the floor would raise it, but the code itself is a supply or sensing issue.

What does Huebsch error code E FL mean?

During a fill or agitate step, the control waits for the pressure switch to open, which tells it the water has reached the programmed level. If the switch has not opened within 30 minutes or the programmed time, the control gives up on the step and displays "E FL", a fill error. The machine then never moves on to the next stage. What operators see is a washer that sits with water running or stalled and does not progress. The manual points at the places water has to pass or be sensed: the hot and cold supply valves and the inlet hose screens, the water pressure at the washer, the pressure switch with its air tube, and the fill valves. It also mentions the drain valve, which may be letting water escape while the tub is filling, so the level never builds. Low pressure that makes the fill slow is not the same as a sensing problem, but the control reports both the same way.

Affected models and control systems

This page applies to Huebsch Quantum frontload washers in the FLW1535C family and Quantum toploads in the TLW13C family, both with the electronic control. QN washer-extractors and MDC toploads use other manuals.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

What you may notice

  • Water keeps running or the fill seems stalled
  • The washer never moves to the next step
  • "E FL" shown on the display after a long wait
  • Water level in the tub looks lower than normal

Possible causes

Listed in Huebsch's documentation

  • Hot or cold supply valve closed or inlet hose screen clogged
  • Low water pressure at the washer
  • Pressure switch or its air tube not sensing the level
  • Fill valve not opening properly
  • Drain valve letting water escape during the fill

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E FL on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • A building water supply that drops in pressure when several machines fill together
  • A pinched or water-logged air tube that stops the switch from changing state at the right level

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Confirm both supply valves behind the washer are fully open.
  2. Look at the hoses for kinks, without moving the machine.
  3. Switch the washer off at the breaker if water keeps running, and keep clear of the floor if it is wet.
  4. Note whether the hot or cold side seems weak, and tell us when you call.

How a technician diagnoses error code E FL

  1. Read the code and see how far the tub filled before the step timed out.
  2. Verify supply valves, hose screens and incoming pressure on both hot and cold.
  3. Test the fill valves for correct operation.
  4. Check the pressure switch and its air tube, and the drain valve for leakage while filling.
  5. Replace the switch, tube or valve only after the test points to it.
! Leave this to a technician
  • The fill valves and pressure switch are on live control circuits behind the cabinet.
  • Water that keeps running needs the supply shut and the cause found before the machine is left alone.
  • Telling a sensing problem from a supply problem takes pressure and switch tests, not a visual check.

How error code E FL differs from similar codes

The 30-minute fill limit described here belongs to the Quantum frontload and topload controls. Other Huebsch control families word their fill messages differently.

E FLQuestions about Huebsch error code E FL
Does E FL mean no water is coming in?

Not always. Water may be coming slowly, or the switch may not be reporting that the level was reached.

Can I leave the washer running unattended?

Not while water is running or the code is showing. Shut off the supply and the breaker if water keeps flowing.

Why would the drain valve matter?

If it lets water escape during the fill, the level never builds enough for the switch to open.
