Huebsch Washer Error Code E nr: Output Board Not Ready
E nr on Huebsch Quantum toploads and QN washer-extractors means the output board is not ready or is not operating properly. Disconnect power to the washer, reconnect it, and see whether the code returns when you start a cycle. Leave the control cover closed, and if E nr repeats, ask us to schedule service.
High: the washer will not start a cycle while the output board is not responding.
What does Huebsch error code E nr mean?
The output board runs the valves, the lock and the motor, so the control has to talk to it before every cycle. At that moment the control tries to use the board, and if the board does not respond as expected, the display shows "E nr", output board not ready. Customers see a washer that will not start a cycle. On the QN models this is a communication problem between the input and output board, and the manual says to disconnect and reconnect power. The manual lists the communication link between the control and the board, the connectors and cables, the output board itself, and the power supply to the board. A brief upset on the supply can make the board miss a handshake once, which is why a single occurrence after a power flicker is less worrying than one that comes back every time.
Affected models and control systems
This page applies to Huebsch Quantum topload washers in the TLW13C family and QN washer-extractors with the CHM1792C front-end control. Other controllers use different board names and messages.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- The washer will not start a cycle
- "E nr" on the display at the start
- Keypad responds but nothing runs
Possible causes
Listed in Huebsch's documentation
- Communication between the control and the output board failing
- Loose or damaged connectors and cables to the board
- Output board failed
- Power supply to the board missing or low
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E nr on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A cable connector that vibration has worked partly loose from its socket
- A power flicker at the start of the cycle that interrupted the board's startup
Safe checks before calling for service
- Disconnect power to the washer and then reconnect it.
- Check whether the code returns when you try to start a cycle.
- Leave the control cover closed and the boards untouched.
- A repeat of E nr is a reason to ask us to schedule service, and note whether it follows a power outage.
How a technician diagnoses error code E nr
- Read the code and ask whether it followed a power event.
- Check the supply to the output board with a meter.
- Inspect connectors and cables between the control and board.
- Test the communication link and look for damage on the board.
- Replace the cable or the board only after the test, then run a full cycle.
- The output board sits in the live control enclosure and carries line-voltage outputs.
- Checking communication between boards needs a meter and the control powered.
- Replacing the board needs its ID and configuration to match the machine.
How error code E nr differs from similar codes
E nr concerns the board not responding at all. E id oUtPUt on QN machines means the board responds but is the wrong one for the machine.

Will cycling the power fix E nr?
Sometimes. The manual says to disconnect and reconnect power, but a repeat points to a connection or board.
Can I open the control to reseat a plug?
No. Leave the cover closed and let us do the work.
Is E nr the same as a board ID error?
No. This one means the board did not respond, not that it was the wrong board.
