Huebsch QN Washer-Extractor Error Code Eio 43: Hot Fill Valve Shorted
Eio 43 means the board found the hot fill valve shorted, so its coil or wiring draws more current than it should and the control shuts the output. Turn the washer off at the disconnect, close the hot supply if water is leaking, and leave the valve wiring alone.
High: the shorted output is cut off and could damage the board if the machine keeps trying.
What does Huebsch error code Eio 43 mean?
Each water valve on a QN-series washer-extractor is switched by an output on the input and output board, and the board monitors the current that output carries. A healthy valve coil draws a modest, predictable current. If the coil fails or a wire is pinched, the current climbs, and the board cuts the output to protect itself and shows Eio 43 for the hot fill valve. Operators see a washer that will not fill with hot water, or will not start at all. A coil that has failed, a pinched wire or moisture in a connector are the common causes, and the board's own valve output is the other candidate. A shorted output can also damage the board if the machine is left to try again and again. In a laundry with hard water, scale and leaks near the valve can bring moisture into the connector, so that is part of what we inspect.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to Huebsch QN-series washer-extractors in the CHM1792C family, 20 to 100 lb, with the front-end control in that programming manual.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- The washer will not fill with hot water and shows Eio 43
- A cycle that calls for hot water will not start
- A faint hum or heat at the valve before the stop
Possible causes
Listed in Huebsch's documentation
- Hot fill valve coil shorted
- Wiring and connectors to the valve damaged
- Board's valve output failing
- Moisture near the valve
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code Eio 43 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A hot-side valve coil overheated by years of use on a high-temperature supply
- Scale and a weeping fitting that let water into the valve connector
Safe checks before calling for service
- Switch the washer off at its disconnect.
- Close the hot water supply valve behind the washer if water is leaking.
- Do not touch the valve wiring.
- Call us so we can test the coil and the board, and tell us whether the cold fill still worked.
How a technician diagnoses error code Eio 43
- Read the code and confirm Eio 43 returns when hot water is called for.
- With the power locked off, measure the hot valve coil resistance and check for a short to ground.
- Inspect the wiring and connector for pinching or moisture.
- Test the board's valve output once the coil and wiring are proven good.
- Replace the coil or the board according to the result.
- The valve circuit carries live voltage and water, which is a hazardous combination for untrained hands.
- A shorted valve output can damage the board, so the order of testing matters.
- Telling a bad coil from a bad output takes a meter and the wiring diagram.
How error code Eio 43 differs from similar codes
Eio 43 is the hot fill valve. Eio 44 is the same short on the cold fill valve.

Related Huebsch washer error codes
Can I run a cold-only wash meanwhile?
The manual does not say. A washer showing this code should be treated as stopped, so do not try to work around it.
Is a leak involved?
Not always, but moisture at the valve can cause the short.
Will it clear by itself?
A shorted coil or wire does not clear itself.
