Huebsch Frontload Washer Error ALrn: Break-In Alarm
ALrn on a Huebsch Quantum frontload washer is the break-in alarm: the control saw the door switch or the coin vault switch change in a way that looks like tampering. Check that the coin vault door is shut and seated after collections and that the washer door is closed and not held by laundry. Do not tape down a switch to get past the alarm; ask us to inspect the switches.
Medium: the washer may stay locked out and out of service until the switch condition is corrected.

What does Huebsch error code ALrn mean?
Coin laundries need protection against forced doors and vault tampering. The Quantum control watches two switches: the washer door switch and the coin vault switch. If either one changes in a pattern that does not match normal use, such as the vault opening while the washer is running, or a door switch flipping with no door movement, it raises the alarm and shows ALrn. The washer may stay locked out until the alarm is dealt with. Attendants commonly see it right after the coin vault is opened for collection, after a door is forced, or when a switch has stuck or slipped out of line. The alarm is a protection feature, not a wash problem, and it cannot say whether someone opened the vault or a switch slipped. The manual's list is the coin vault door and cover seated, the washer door switch and its alignment, the switch wiring as seen from outside, and the control's alarm input. Bypassing a switch would defeat the protection, so it should never be taped or blocked. The display text is ALrn.

Safe checks before calling for service
- Check that the coin vault door is shut and seated after collections.
- Check that the washer door is closed and not held by laundry.
- Do not tape down a switch to get past the alarm.
- Ask us to inspect the switches.
- Tell us whether the alarm followed a collection or a forced door.
How a technician diagnoses error code ALrn
- Read ALrn and ask whether it followed a collection or an incident.
- Inspect the coin vault door, cover and latch for correct seating.
- Check the vault switch and the washer door switch for alignment and travel.
- Examine switch wiring and connectors for damage or moisture.
- Test each switch with a meter while it is operated.
- Check the control's alarm input only after both switches test good.
- The alarm switches sit behind the vault and door frame, where wiring and line-voltage terminals are close together.
- The alarm cannot say whether someone opened the vault or a switch slipped, so each switch is tested.
- Bypassing a switch would defeat the protection, so we repair the switch itself.

Does ALrn mean someone broke in?
Not necessarily. A vault cover not seated after collection is a common cause.
