Atosa Prep Table Error Code HA: Maximum Temperature Alarm

HA on an Atosa prep table with the digital controller is the maximum temperature alarm, and it means the table is warmer than its limit while the compressor and fans keep running. Close the lid and doors, check food temperature, clear the easy-to-reach condenser area, and remove excess food from the pans.

Medium · inspection needed

Medium: the table is above its limit and food can warm, but the unit is still running.

What does Atosa error code HA mean?

The controller compares the temperature of the table with a high limit. When the reading goes above it, HA appears. The outputs are unchanged, so the compressor and fans carry on running, which tells you the controller is not turning anything off. It is only telling you the table is not holding temperature. That can be a loading issue, such as pans packed too full or a lid left open that lets warm room air in. It can be a cooling problem, such as a dirty condenser that cannot reject heat, or an iced evaporator coil that blocks cold air. It can also be a measuring problem, such as a probe reading warmer than the real temperature. The manual's list covers these four. Food in the pans can warm quickly, which makes the thermometer check the first step. A high alarm that clears once the lid closes was probably loading or a door habit. One that returns needs a service look.

Affected models and control systems

This applies to Atosa MSF and MPF refrigerated prep tables with the digital controller, such as the MSF8302GR, MSF8307GR and MPF8202GR. Other controller generations use different codes.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

What you may notice

  • HA shows and the pans feel warmer than normal
  • The compressor and fans run constantly
  • Condensation or frost on the pans or lid
  • The alarm appears after a busy rush or after loading fresh product

Possible causes

Listed in Atosa's documentation

  • Pans packed too full or the lid left open on the Atosa table
  • A dirty condenser that limits heat rejection and raises HA
  • An iced evaporator coil that blocks cold air
  • A room probe that reads warmer than the real temperature

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code HA on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • Warm product loaded straight from prep that overloads the table for hours
  • A condenser coated with grease-laden dust beside a cook line, so the compressor cannot shed heat
  • An evaporator coil iced over after the lid was left open during a rush

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Close the lid and doors.
  2. Check food temperature in the pans with a thermometer.
  3. Clear lint and dust from the condenser area if it is easy to reach.
  4. Remove excess food from the pans so the lid closes fully.
  5. If HA returns, note the room temperature and when it began, and call us.

How a technician diagnoses error code HA

  1. Read the code and compare the display with a reference thermometer.
  2. Check the condenser, fan and airflow.
  3. Look for ice on the evaporator coil and check the defrost.
  4. Check the room probe against the reference.
  5. Check the compressor and refrigerant side if airflow is fine.
  6. Fix the measured cause and confirm the table pulls down.
! Leave this to a technician
  • Food safety is at stake while the table is warm, so the cause has to be measured.
  • Condenser, fan and refrigerant work needs tools and a technician trained on the refrigerant circuit.
  • A probe that reads high has to be separated from a real temperature problem.

How error code HA differs from similar codes

LA is the matching low-temperature alarm on the same controller, and CA turns the outputs off.

HAQuestions about Atosa error code HA
Does HA mean the table has failed?

Not necessarily. Overloaded pans or a lid left open can set it off.

Will it clear on its own?

Yes, once the table pulls down, but repeats point to a cooling issue.

Is the food safe?

Check with a thermometer. Move it if it warms past safe limits.
