Repairs this series usually needs
- Probe codes such as P1, P2, E1 and E2
- High temperature alarm on a loaded cabinet
- Door alarm from a worn gasket or switch
- Compressor short-cycling after a power loss
- Evaporator coil icing from a defrost problem
The T-Series is True’s upright reach-in refrigerator line, and the model number on the data plate starts with T- and a size, such as a T-23-HC or T-49-HC. Glass-door versions carry a G in the number. The same plate tells us the refrigerant, which on current cabinets is a hydrocarbon.
The control depends on build year, so the first thing we do is read the brand on the display. A P1 on a Dixell control is not the same as an E1 on an LAE control, and a wrong guess wastes a visit. Then we check the condenser, the door seal and the defrost cycle.
Older T-Series cabinets without the -HC ending use the same numbers, and we repair those too. We say plainly when a repair is not worth it. On a cabinet from before the -HC change, the same checks apply, and we simply confirm the older control type from the display before we order a probe.

It is on the data plate, usually inside the cabinet or on the side. The number starts with T- and ends in -HC on current models. Give it to us when you call so we confirm the control and parts.
Why does my T-Series show different codes than a friend's?
True fits controls from several makers depending on build year. Each has its own code list, so we read the control brand before diagnosing. Reading the wording on the display is the quickest way to tell which control you have.
Do you repair older T-Series cabinets without the -HC ending?
Yes. They use the same model numbers without the ending, and we service them. We give a written price first and say plainly if the cabinet is past a sensible repair.
