Repairs this series usually needs
- Frost build-up on the evaporator
- Defrost heater and drain heater problems
- High temperature alarm on a loaded freezer
- Probe codes on the display
- Compressor short-cycling after power loss
The freezers in the T-Series, TS, TUC and TWT families carry an F in the model number, for example a T-12F-HC. Glass-door versions add a G after it. Together the group lists 51 model numbers across reach-in, undercounter and worktop shapes.
A True freezer defrosts with a heater and ends the cycle on coil temperature, so a bad coil probe or a weak heater shows up as ice on the coil and a freezer that struggles. Drain heaters keep the defrost water from freezing in the line. We test the heaters and probes, then the condenser, since a dirty coil makes any freezer work harder.
After a storm outage, a freezer may short-cycle when power returns. We check for that too.
About this series
- Reach-in, undercounter and worktop freezers
- Model numbers with an F, such as T-12F-HC
- Electronic control
- Defrost by heater, ended by coil temperature
How do I know if my True model is a freezer?
Look for an F in the model number on the data plate, as in T-12F-HC. If you are not sure, tell us the number and we confirm.
Why is my freezer covered in frost?
The defrost may not be warming the coil enough. A weak heater, a bad probe or a worn door gasket can all cause it. We test them in turn.
Can a storm outage damage a freezer?
The loss itself usually does not, but the compressor may short-cycle when power returns. We check starts and voltage if the freezer acts oddly afterward.
