True Commercial Freezer Repair
We repair True reach-in, undercounter and worktop freezers and the Spec Series freezers in Miami, Los Angeles, Houston, New York and San Diego. Older cabinets are welcome, and if a repair is not worth the money we tell you so.
Common True reach-in freezers problems
In plain words, the way kitchen and laundry staff describe them when they call.
Frost buildup on the evaporator coil
Freezer warm and food softening
Water under the cabinet after defrost
Defrost not ending
Door alarm with the door closed
An F in a True model number marks a freezer: T-12F-HC, T-23F-HC and T-49F-HC reach-ins, TS freezers, TUC and TWT undercounter and worktop units, and the Spec Series STR, STA and STG freezers. The TFM, TDC and THDC horizontal and dipping freezers belong to the same family, as do older cabinets without the HC ending.
These freezers defrost with heaters and end the cycle when the coil reaches temperature. A bad defrost probe, a weak heater or a termination that sticks all end up the same way, as thick frost on the coil. The drain heater deserves a look too: when it fails, melt water refreezes in the drain line and later shows up on the floor or in the bottom of the cabinet.
Humid air makes frost worse, because every door opening carries moisture inside. That matters most in coastal Miami and Houston kitchens, but a worn gasket will frost up a freezer anywhere. We check the gaskets, the defrost parts and the drain, and we clean the condenser before calling anything failed. After a power loss we confirm the compressor restarts cleanly and the cabinet pulls down to temperature.

Usually the defrost cycle is not finishing, or humid air is getting in past a worn gasket. We test the heater and the probe, then inspect the seals.
Can I chip the ice off myself?
Please keep tools away from the coil. Switch the cabinet off, lay towels down for the water, let it thaw, and call us so we can find out why the frost formed.
Do you service True dipping cabinets?
Yes. We work on TFM, TDC and THDC horizontal and dipping freezers as well as upright models, and we confirm parts from the model label before we arrive.
