Follett Ice Machine Drain Clog / Chassis Sensor Light: Drain or Leak
The drain clog / chassis sensor light on a Follett Horizon Elite 710 means the board senses slow drain flow or water touching the chassis sensor, and the machine stops making ice. Turn off the water supply if you see a leak and check that the drain is not backed up. Call us to find the leak or clear the drain.
Medium: ice production stops, and trapped water can damage the cabinet or floor if it is not found.

What does Follett Drain clog / chassis mean?
The Horizon Elite 710 board watches for water where it should not be. A sensor on the chassis detects moisture, and the drain path is monitored too, so either a leak inside the cabinet or a drain that cannot carry water away will light the drain clog / chassis sensor indicator. When the board sees either condition it stops ice production, because continuing to feed water into a machine that cannot drain it, or that is already leaking, only makes the problem larger. The board cannot tell by itself whether the sensor is wet from a real leak or whether the drain is simply slow, so the indicator names both. The wording on the panel is Drain clog / chassis (water leak) sensor. Staff often notice it first as a damp patch on the floor beside the unit or as a drain that gurgles and runs slowly. Water on the chassis sensor can also come from a loose fitting, which is why a visual check of the area helps us narrow the cause.

What you may notice
- Drain clog / chassis sensor light on
- No ice being produced
- Water on the floor near the machine
- Drain that runs slowly or backs up
Possible causes
Listed in Follett's documentation
- Drain line blocked or without proper slope
- Internal leak onto the chassis sensor
- Chassis sensor condition
- Worn gaskets or water fittings
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind Drain clog / chassis on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A floor drain beside the machine that backs up when the kitchen sinks drain at once
- A fitting loosened when the unit was last moved for floor cleaning
Safe checks before calling for service
- Look for water on the floor or around the machine. If you see a leak, close the water supply to the machine.
- Check that the drain the machine empties into is not backed up.
- If you can reach the sensor area safely, clean and dry it with a towel.
- Leave the machine off if water is still dripping, and call us. Tell us where the water appeared and whether the drain was slow before the light came on.
How a technician diagnoses Drain clog / chassis
- Check the panel light and look for evidence of where water collected.
- Run water through the drain line and verify flow and slope.
- Trace the water path from the inlet to the reservoir for weeping fittings and cracked tubing.
- Inspect gaskets and fittings, and check the chassis sensor for corrosion or residue.
- Dry the sensor and confirm the light clears before restoring water.
- Repair the leak or clear the drain first; replace the sensor only if it still reads wet when dry.
- Water inside the cabinet sits close to 120 V wiring and the drive motor, so tracing it means working behind panels.
- Fixing only the sensor without finding the leak lets the problem return, so the water path has to be traced first.
- A slow drain may be a building plumbing problem as well, which needs proper tools to clear.

Can I keep making ice with this light on?
The machine stops ice production on its own. Do not bypass it, since the water has to go somewhere.
Will it clear once the floor is dry?
Only if the cause was a one-time spill. A real leak or slow drain will bring it back.
Is a clogged drain the same as a leak?
They share one light, so a visual check of the floor and the drain is how to tell them apart.
