The Globe SP floor mixers run from 30 to 80 quarts and come with a manual bowl lift or a power bowl lift. The P in a number marks power lift, and the -1 and -3 endings usually mark single and three-phase supply. The full model number is on the data plate and is worth reading out when you call.
We start with the guard and bowl position interlock, then the lift, the motor and the gear case. Dough work is heavy, and a kitchen’s heat and humidity add wear to every moving part. A lift that binds is often dry or dirty before it is broken.
Many SP floor mixers are older machines with plenty of life left in the gear case, so a repair often makes sense. We give a written price first, and we are honest when a lift or transmission repair would not be worth the money.
