Repairs this series usually needs
- Mixer that will not start with the bowl guard open
- Speed change that is hard or noisy
- Motor overload trips
- PTO hub attachment that does not turn
- Grease leak at the planetary
The Univex SRM+ line runs from the 12 quart SRM12+ up to the 80 quart SRM80+, with SRMF20+, SRM30+, SRM40+, SRM60+, SRM60+PM and SRM60+HD in between. Many have a PTO hub for attachments, and the plus sign marks the series.
We check the bowl guard interlock first, then the variable-speed drive for wear if the speed change is stiff or noisy. A PTO hub that does not turn needs a look at its drive. Grease at the planetary head means a seal or too much grease inside, and in hot weather grease thins and travels.
Univex SRM+ mixers often carry attachments, so we check how the hub and the attachment work together as well as the mixer itself. A written price comes first, and we say so if a repair would not be worth the cost.

What is the PTO hub?
It is a power take-off on the mixer head that drives attachments such as a grinder. If it does not turn, we check its drive and the way the attachment seats.
Why is the speed change hard?
Wear in the variable-speed drive is the usual reason a speed change feels stiff or noisy. We inspect the drive, replace worn parts, and give a written price before any work begins.
Does the PTO hub need its own service?
The hub wears like any gear drive, and grease or alignment problems can make an attachment slip. We look at the hub when we look at the mixer, and we explain what we find.
