Repairs this series usually needs

  1. Blade that does not turn from the belt or motor
  2. Uneven slices from a dull blade or gauge plate
  3. Sharpener that does not work
  4. Carriage that drags
  5. Motor overload trips

Globe’s premium heavy-duty line uses a 13 inch knife and comes in manual and automatic versions: S13, S13A, S213, SG13, SG13A and SG213. The model number is on the data plate, and an A ending marks an automatic carriage.

Always unplug the slicer before cleaning or checking the knife, and never reach past the guards. If the knife does not turn, we look at the belt and the motor. Uneven slices often mean a dull knife or a gauge plate that has drifted out of adjustment, and a sharpener that does not bite points to worn stones.

A 13 inch Globe slicer that is still turning true is worth keeping up. We give a written price first, and if a belt, motor or sharpener repair would cost more than the slicer, we say so before any work.

FAQGlobe Premium 13 Inch Heavy-Duty Slicers questions
How do I spot an automatic S13?

It marks an automatic carriage, while models without it are manual. The full model number on the data plate tells you which one you own, and we use it to confirm parts.

Why are my slices uneven?

A dull blade or a gauge plate out of adjustment is the usual cause, and we sharpen, adjust and test the cut. Slices at several thickness settings tell us it is fixed.

How do I know the sharpener stones are worn?

If the knife stays dull after sharpening or the stones look glazed, they are due. We replace them and check the knife edge, with the slicer unplugged and the guards in place.
