Repairs this series usually needs
- Blade that will not turn
- Uneven slices from a dull blade or gauge plate
- Carriage drag
- Sharpener not working
- Motor overload
The Globe medium-duty slicers cover 10 to 14 inch knives: G10, G12, G12A, G14 and GC512. They suit delis, sandwich shops and small grocery counters, and the model number is on the data plate. An A in the number marks an automatic carriage.
Unplug the slicer before cleaning or checking the knife, and never reach past the guards. If the blade does not turn, we check the belt and motor. For uneven cuts we check the knife edge and the gauge plate, and a carriage that drags usually needs cleaning or new bushings.
Medium-duty slicers carry most of the load in a busy deli, so we aim to get them back to work with a repair that makes sense. You get a written price first, and we tell you plainly when a replacement is wiser.
About this series
- 10 to 14 inch medium-duty slicers
- Manual and automatic versions
- Built for steady daily use
Which sizes are included?
The G10, G12, G12A, G14 and GC512 cover knives from 10 to 14 inches. Check the plate for the full name. It is printed on the plate.
Why does the carriage drag?
Residue, worn bushings or a bent rod are the usual causes, and we clean, adjust and replace what is worn. A light wipe of the rods after cleaning also helps.
What is a gauge plate and why does it matter?
It sets how thick each slice is. If it drifts out of adjustment, slices come out uneven, so we check it alongside the knife edge whenever cuts look wrong.
