Repairs this series usually needs

  1. Motor that does not start with the head not seated
  2. Grinder smearing meat
  3. Overload trip under a heavy load
  4. Gear noise and seal leaks

Hobart’s mixer-grinders, the MG1532, MG2032 and 4246, combine a mixing bowl and a grinder in one machine. They are common in butcher shops and meat rooms where the same operator mixes and grinds in a single place.

Before any check we unplug the machine, and nobody should reach past a guard or into the head. If the grinder will not start, the head and pan interlock is the first suspect. If meat smears, a dull knife or a plate that is no longer flat is the usual cause. Moisture and cleaning chemicals are hard on seals and switches meat rooms.

A combination machine does two jobs, so a problem can come from the mixer side or the grinder side. We find which one it is, give a written price first, and tell you plainly when a repair is not worth making.

FAQHobart MG1532, MG2032 and 4246 Mixer-Grinders questions
Which models are mixer-grinders?

The MG1532, MG2032 and 4246 are the combination mixer and grinder machines in this group. The model number on the data plate tells you which one you have.

Why does the machine smear meat instead of grinding it?

A dull knife or a plate that is not flat is the usual cause. We replace or sharpen the parts and show you what we found, so you know what wore out.

Does a worn mixer-grinder need both sides repaired?

Not always. A dull knife on the grinder side and a worn switch on the mixer side are separate problems. We check each, and price only what the machine needs.
