Repairs this series usually needs

  1. Grinder that will not start from the head or pan interlock or a switch
  2. Meat that smears or mushes from a dull knife or a plate that is not flat
  3. Overload trips with cold, tough product
  4. Gear case noise or an oil leak

The Biro manual-feed grinders are fed by hand rather than by an auger. The models include the 722, 822SS, 922SS, 6642, 346SS, 548SS, 7548SS, 552SS, 7552SS, 1056SS and 1556SS. SS marks stainless steel, and HHP marks high horsepower.

Unplug the machine before checking the knife or plate, and never reach past a guard or into the head. If it will not start, the head and pan interlock or a switch is the first check. A smeared grind means a dull knife or a plate that is not flat, and an overload trip often means cold, tough product.

Manual-feed grinders are simple and long-lived, so repairs often make sense. We give a written price first, and we tell you honestly if a worn gear case or motor means it is time for something new.

FAQBiro Manual-Feed Meat Grinders questions
What does SS mean in a model number?

It marks a stainless steel version of the grinder. Read the full model number on the data plate and give it to us when you call, so we confirm the right parts before the visit.

Why does my grinder trip on overload?

Cold, tough product, a dull knife or drag in the head puts extra load on the motor, so we check all three. Switching off between loads gives it a rest.

Do stainless versions wear differently?

The stainless body resists corrosion in a wet meat room, but the knife, plate and gears wear the same way. We check the same wear parts on every grinder.
