Repairs this series usually needs

  1. Motor that will not run from the switch or overload
  2. Meat that smears from a dull knife or plate
  3. Worm or stud wear
  4. Head lock knob that is loose

The Torrey M-series are meat grinders with head sizes from number 12 to number 32. The models are the M-12FS, M-22R, M-22R1, M-22-RW, M-32-3PH, M-32-5HP and M-32, and the 3PH marks a three-phase version. Butcher shops and meat rooms use them.

Unplug the machine before checking the knife, plate or head, and never reach past the guard. If the motor will not run, the switch and the overload are the first checks. A smeared grind means a dull knife or plate. Worm or stud wear and a loose head lock knob are common as the grinder ages.

A Torrey grinder that still turns is often worth a new worm or stud rather than a replacement. We give a written price first, and we say plainly if the head or gear case is past a sensible repair.

FAQTorrey M-Series Meat Grinders questions
How is a Torrey head sized?

It marks the head size, from number 12 up to number 32. The full model name is on the data plate, and we use it to confirm the knife, plate and worm before the visit.

Why does my grinder trip?

A cold, tough load or a dull knife is the usual cause, and we check the load, the knife and the motor. Letting meat chill only slightly less helps too.

What does worm wear look like?

The auger pushes meat less firmly, the grind gets uneven and the head can feel loose. We inspect the worm and the stud, and show you the wear before we price it.
