Anets Fryer Codes drn, turn, OFF: Drain Valve Open
Drn, turn and OFF on an Anets AGP fryer with the digital controller mean the drain valve is open while the controller is on. Turn the fryer off and close the drain valve fully before turning it back on.
Medium: the fryer will not run until the drain valve is closed, and closing it is usually a simple operator step.
What does Anets error code Drn / turn / OFF mean?
This message appears in three parts, drn, then turn, then OFF, and reads as a sentence: drain, turn off. The digital controller watches the drain valve, and if the valve is open while the controller is switched on it refuses to carry on and shows the sequence. The reason is plain: with the drain open, oil would run out of the vat, and a burner firing into an empty or draining vat is a hazard. The manual gives the meaning, drain valve open while the controller is on, and the action, which is to turn the fryer off and close the drain valve before turning it on again. It lists no other causes. The computer control form of the same condition reads DRAINING and TURN OFF, and our earlier wording came from that version, while the digital controller shows the three short words in sequence.
Affected models and control systems
Anets AGP series gas fryers (AGP55, AGP55T, AGP60, AGP60W and AGP75) with the digital controller, which cycles through drn, turn and OFF. It is the digital controller form of a code that also exists on the computer control.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- The display steps through drn, turn and OFF one after another
- The burner will not light and the fryer does not heat
- The drain handle is not fully in the closed position
Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code Drn / turn / OFF on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Drain handle left partly open after filtering or cleaning the vat
- Handle closed but not seating against the switch that tells the controller the valve is shut
- Crusted oil keeping the drain valve from closing all the way
Safe checks before calling for service
- Turn the fryer off at the controller so nothing can fire.
- Check that no oil is running out of the vat. If it is, let it drain into a proper container first.
- Close the drain valve fully until the handle stops, and make sure nothing is caught in it.
- Turn the fryer on. If the message returns with the handle fully closed, leave it off and note whether the handle sits flush or feels loose.
How a technician diagnoses error code Drn / turn / OFF
- Confirm the handle position and that the vat holds oil, then close the valve fully.
- Inspect the handle and linkage for bending or oil buildup that stops it reaching the closed position.
- Check the drain-position switch with a meter for correct open and closed states, power off.
- Check the wiring from the switch to the controller for chafing or a loose connector near the hot area.
- Adjust the linkage or replace the switch only after the test shows the state is wrong.
- The sensing circuit sits next to the burner area and its wiring must be tested with the power off and the fryer cool.
- Hot oil is a serious burn hazard, so any valve work needs the vat emptied and cooled properly.
How error code Drn / turn / OFF differs from similar codes
The computer control shows this as DRAINING and TURN OFF. The digital controller shows drn, turn and OFF in sequence for the same meaning.

Related Anets fryer error codes
Why does the fryer refuse to light?
The controller sees the drain valve open while it is on, and the manual says to turn it off and close the valve before restarting.
Is the oil really draining?
Not necessarily. The message only says the controller sees the valve open, so check the vat as well.
Will it work after closing the valve?
The manual says to close the valve before turning the fryer back on. If it still shows, the position switch is the next thing to check.
