What does U-Line error code E9 mean?

E9 is the door alert that goes with the second door. On dual-zone units the lower door is Door 2, and E0 covers the upper. On single-door models, E9 is simply the door open error. The control records the event in memory, but only door errors show on the display with the audible signal. Closing the door clears it. The E0 and E9 pair appears in the service-mode error list for U-1215BEVS-00A, and for dual-zone models such as UHWD524-SG01A, so a technician can read how often each door was left open. If E9 keeps appearing with the door shut, the sealing of the lower door or its switch is the next step. Reading the log also helps rule out a door that was simply left ajar overnight. After the door is shut, the lower compartment needs time to pull back down to its set point, and a long open period can leave drinks noticeably warm for a while.

Affected models and control systems

Dual-zone models, for example UHWD524-SG01A, and U-1215BEVS-00A, whose service-mode list includes E0 and E9. On single-door models E9 is the door open error.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

  4. Note which door the unit has if both E0 and E9 appear.

How a technician diagnoses error code E9

  1. Read the service-mode error log for E9 entries.

  4. Inspect the switch wiring.
  5. Replace the switch or gasket if needed.

E9Questions about U-Line error code E9
What is E9 on a single-door model?

The door open error.

Is it the same as E0?

No. E0 is the upper door on dual-zone models; E9 is the lower.

Yes. The refrigeration keeps running, but an open door lets warm room air in, so the contents will drift up until the door is closed.
