Moffat Turbofan Oven Message dor: Door Open
Dor means the door is open, or the door microswitch is open circuit with the door closed. Close the door fully, and if dor stays, have the door microswitch checked for continuity with the oven power off.
Low: usually a door left open; the oven works once the door is closed.

What does Moffat error code Dor mean?
The Turbofan digital controller watches the door microswitch. When the door is closed, the switch closes and the controller carries on. If the door is open, the switch is open, and the controller shows dor and holds the oven from running. The service manual lists two causes: the door is open, or the door is closed but the microswitch reads open circuit. The first is common and easy. A door that is not pushed fully against its latch, or a gasket or tray catching the edge, leaves the switch open. The second means the switch, its actuator or its wiring is not making contact even though the door is shut. The manual's action is to close the door and, if the message stays, to check the door microswitch for continuity with the oven power off. This is an operator-visible message on the digital controller. Err 003 is a different case, where a loop wire is disconnected at the switch plug on the control board.
Affected models and control systems
Turbofan E31D4 digital ovens from Moffat, the 30D Series, which show dor on the display.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Dor on the display
- Oven not starting or stopping when the door is shut
- Door appearing closed but the message staying
Possible causes
Listed in Moffat's documentation
- Door open
- Door closed but microswitch open circuit
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code Dor on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A door latch or hinge slightly out of line so the door does not reach the switch
- A switch actuator bent or worn so it no longer presses the switch
Safe checks before calling for service
- Close the door firmly and check that it seats against the latch.
- Make sure no tray, rack or food edge is stopping the door.
- Open and close the door once to see whether dor clears.
- If dor stays with the door shut, turn the oven off and tell the technician.
How a technician diagnoses error code Dor
- Read the display and confirm dor with the door shut.
- Check the door alignment, latch and hinge.
- With the oven power off, test the door microswitch for continuity when closed.
- Check the switch actuator and wiring.
- Replace the switch or adjust the latch as the test shows.
- The microswitch wiring is tested with the oven power off and the panel removed.
- The switch circuit is connected to the control board.
- Bypassing a door switch is unsafe.
How error code Dor differs from similar codes
Err 003 reports a disconnected loop wire at the switch plug; dor reports the door open or the switch open circuit.

Is dor an error?
It is a message that the door is open, which an operator can often fix.
What if the door is shut?
The microswitch may be open circuit and needs checking.
Is dor the same as Err 003?
No, Err 003 is a loop wire problem at the control board.
