ACP Amana Oven Error Code H-0: Missing Signal at J1 (AXP20)
H-0 on an older Amana Xpress AXP20 or MXP20 oven means a signal is missing because a plug is off at J1 on the main board. The control cannot run the oven without it. Unplug and replug the oven, tell us if it was recently moved, serviced or cleaned underneath, and leave internal plugs to us.
Medium: the oven cannot run without the signal, but the cause is often a simple plug.

What does ACP Amana error code H-0 mean?
J1 on the main board carries the link between the main board and the other boards in the oven. With a plug off J1, the control receives no signal across that link and cannot run the oven, and H-0 appears. This is one of the few codes that is often a mechanical rather than an electrical failure, and it frequently follows service work in which a plug was left loose, or an oven being moved, or a cleaning under or behind it. The manual's list names the plug at J1 on the main board, the cable between the boards, the connector pins for heat or damage, and the main board itself. The owner step is simple: unplug the oven and plug it back in. Say whether it was recently moved, serviced or cleaned underneath, because a loose internal plug is the usual cause. Do not open the oven to push connectors yourself. The boards sit beside high voltage. A technician reseats the plug with the power off, inspects the pins and tests the oven.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to the older Amana Xpress AXP20 and MXP20 touch pad combination ovens, which use hyphenated codes, as described in the ACP Commercial Service and Training Manual. The AXP22 and MXP22 write this reading H0.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- H-0 on the display
- The oven will not run
- The code appears after the oven was moved or serviced
- Nothing responds on the touch pad
Possible causes
Listed in ACP Amana's documentation
- Plug at J1 on the main board off or loose
- Cable between the boards damaged
- Connector pins damaged by heat
- Main board failed
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code H-0 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A J1 plug nudged out of its header when the oven was slid out for cleaning behind it
- Heat-darkened pins on the J1 header that no longer grip the plug
Safe checks before calling for service
- Unplug the oven and plug it back in.
- Say whether it was recently moved, serviced or cleaned underneath.
- Do not open the oven to push connectors yourself.
- The boards sit beside high voltage.
- Tell us which service visit, if any, came just before.
How a technician diagnoses error code H-0
- Read the code and ask about recent service or movement.
- With the oven unplugged, check that the plug is seated at J1.
- Inspect the pins and the cable between the boards for heat or damage.
- Reseat and test the oven under power.
- Replace the cable, connector or main board only if reseating does not hold.
- The plug sits inside the sealed body next to high voltage, so reseating it is not an operator job.
- A plug that looks seated can still have burned pins.
- The right repair may be a cable or header rather than a board, which needs inspection to decide.
How error code H-0 differs from similar codes
H0 is the AXP22/MXP22 spelling of the same missing-signal reading. H-1 on the AXP20 is a different problem: a wrong set point.

Related ACP Amana high-speed oven error codes
Is H-0 a failed board?
Often not. A loose plug at J1 is the usual cause, which is why we look there first.
Can I push the plug in myself?
Please don't. The boards sit beside high voltage, so a technician does it with power off.
Will unplugging fix it?
Only if the plug seats itself, which is unlikely. A technician usually needs to reseat it.
Need help with ACP Amana error code H-0?
