ACP Amana ACE14 / MCE14 Oven Error 2: Memory Not Programmed
Error 2 on an Amana ACE14 or MCE14 touch pad speed-cook oven means the chassis memory is not programmed. The oven finds the EZ Card memory but it holds no menu data. Unplug the oven and plug it back in; if the memory stays empty, a technician must program it.
Medium: the oven cannot run until the menu is programmed, but it is not unsafe.

What does ACP Amana error 2 mean?
On the ACE14 and MCE14, the menu is stored in memory on the EZ Card. At start-up the control reads that memory. With Error 2, the memory is there but it is empty: the control finds the EZ Card yet no menu data is on it. This differs from a card that cannot be found at all. It can follow a board replacement, where a new board arrives blank, or a card that has become corrupted and lost its stored menu. A replacement board fitted without the menu being loaded, and a programming step skipped after service, are the other causes the manual points to. The maker tells the operator to unplug the oven and plug it back in. That clears a momentary misread. If the memory stays empty, the menu has to be programmed, and that takes the maker's tool, which is why only a technician can finish the job. Leave the oven unplugged between tries and keep the cover closed. Nothing is broken in the cooking parts; the oven simply has no program to run.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to the Amana ACE14 and MCE14 touch pad speed-cook ovens, as covered in the ACP Commercial Service and Training Manual. Error 1U and Error 1F on the same ovens mean the memory was not found.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Error 2 on the display
- The oven has no menu to run
- The error follows a board replacement
- The error stays after unplugging
Possible causes
Listed in ACP Amana's documentation
- EZ Card memory holding no menu data after a board swap
- EZ Card corrupted and lost its stored menu
- Replacement board fitted without the menu loaded
- Programming step skipped after service
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error 2 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A replacement display or EZ Card board shipped blank and put into service without a load
- A power surge that wiped the menu data from the card while the oven was off
Safe checks before calling for service
- Take the plug out for one minute, put it back and test the oven; if it runs properly, no service call is needed.
- If Error 2 stays, the menu memory is empty and has to be programmed.
- Only we can program it with the maker tool.
- Leave the oven unplugged between tries.
- Keep the cover closed and tell us about any recent board work.
How a technician diagnoses error 2
- Read the error and confirm the card is detected.
- Check whether a board was recently replaced.
- Connect the programming tool and read the card's memory.
- Load the correct menu for the ACE14 or MCE14 model.
- Replace the EZ Card if it will not hold the program.
- Programming the menu needs the maker's tool and the right menu for the model, which an operator does not have.
- A card that will not hold the menu points to the card itself, and only testing confirms that.
- The oven has to be tested after the menu loads to make sure it runs properly.

Is Error 2 the same as Error 1U?
No. 1U and 1F mean the memory is not found. Error 2 means it is found but empty.
Can I load the menu myself?
No. It needs the maker's programming tool and the right menu for the model.
Is the oven damaged?
Usually not. It has no menu to run.
