Blendtec Blender Touch Error: Sensor Touched
Touch Error means more than one touch sensor was touched at once, or an icon is stuck on, so the blender ignores the pad. Wipe the pad dry, press only the center of one button with a clean finger, and cycle power if the icon stays lit. If Touch Error persists, the touch surface or controller needs service.
Low: the pad ignores the touch but the blender is not damaged, and most cases clear after drying or a power cycle.
What does Blendtec Touch Error mean?
The touch pad on a Blendtec is a flat surface with a sensor under each icon. The control looks for exactly one sensor to be touched at a time. When two or more register together, or one stays registered with no finger on it, the control cannot tell which command you meant. It ignores the input and shows Touch Error. The sensors respond to anything that conducts a little, so water, sauce film and grease can look like a finger. A worn surface can do the same. The error does not mean the motor or the blend is damaged, and the blender is not stuck mid-cycle, it simply will not accept a command until the extra touch clears. In a busy counter location, the common story is a wipe-down with a wet cloth followed by the error a minute later. If the display still shows an icon lit after the pad is clean and dry, the surface or the controller behind it needs a technician.
Affected models and control systems
This page covers the Blendtec Stealth 875 and 885 and the Chef 775. Other models with mechanical switches do not show this message.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Touch Error shows and the buttons do not respond
- An icon on the pad stays lit with no one touching it
- Blender responds again after the pad dries or power is cycled
Possible causes
Listed in Blendtec's documentation
- Moisture or grease on the touch pad
- A stuck icon from residue or a worn surface
- A touch controller or cable that is failing
- Poor power supply quality to the control
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind Touch Error on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Sanitizer or cleaning spray that ran under the edge of the pad frame and keeps a sensor reading as touched
- Wear on the most pressed icon, such as the main start button, that makes it read as held down
- A cable at the touch controller that has loosened from vibration during heavy use
Safe checks before calling for service
- Touch only the center of one button, using a clean dry finger.
- Unplug the blender, wipe the pad with a dry cloth and let it dry fully.
- If the icon stays on, unplug and re-plug the blender.
- If Touch Error persists, note which icon stays lit and call us.
How a technician diagnoses Touch Error
- Read the message and confirm which icon is stuck on the display.
- Inspect the pad surface for wear, cracks and moisture under the frame.
- Check the touch controller connection and cable condition.
- Test the controller output with the pad dry and nothing touching it.
- Replace the pad or controller only after the readings show which one has failed.
- A stuck icon can come from wear or liquid under the touch surface, which an operator cannot see or reach.
- The touch controller and its cable sit inside the base, which carries line voltage.
- A pad that keeps registering touches can start blends nobody asked for, so it should not be left in use.

Can I run the blender while Touch Error is on?
Not until it clears. The blender will not accept commands, and pressing harder does not help.
Will Touch Error go away once the pad dries?
Often yes, especially after a cleaning. If it returns right after drying, the surface or controller needs a look.
Is this the same as Touch controller not detected?
No. Touch Error means the pad sees a wrong touch, while the other message means the control cannot find the pad's controller at all.
