ACP Amana High-Speed Oven Error Code B0: Touch Panel

B0 on an Amana Xpress AXP22 or MXP22 touch panel oven means the control points to the touch panel. The panel may miss touches or register ones you did not make, so you cannot start the oven reliably. Switch it off at the plug, let it cool, wipe the panel gently, and stop using it if it still presses itself.

Medium · inspection needed

Medium: the oven cannot be controlled reliably, but unplugging it makes it safe.

What does ACP Amana error code B0 mean?

The touch panel is the glass surface you press to start and set programs. Behind it, the display board reads each touch and the control checks that those readings make sense. B0 shows when the control stops trusting the panel. In practice the panel may not register your touches, or it may register touches you did not make, so you cannot start the oven reliably. The second behavior matters most, because a panel that presses itself could begin or alter a program with nobody there. For this reason the maker has you switch the oven off at the plug and let it cool, then wipe the panel gently with a soft cloth and an approved cleaner, keeping liquid away from the edges. Moisture or grease at the panel edge is a common reason for a panel to misread, and heat damage can do the same. Beyond cleaning, the panel surface and its connector, the display board input from the panel, or the board itself may be the source. Those parts connect to boards that carry high voltage, so nobody should open the oven.

Affected models and control systems

This applies to the Amana Xpress AXP22 and MXP22 touch panel combination ovens, as covered in the ACP Commercial Service and Training Manual. The older AXP20/MXP20 call the same part a touch pad and list B0 and B1 together.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

What you may notice

  • B0 on the display
  • Touches do not register
  • The panel presses itself without you
  • The oven will not start a program

Possible causes

Listed in ACP Amana's documentation

  • Touch panel surface or its connector damaged
  • Moisture or grease at the panel edge
  • Display board input from the panel failing
  • Heat damage to the panel

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code B0 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • Cleaning liquid that has crept under the glass edge and created false touches along one side
  • A panel connector at the display board that has loosened, so some touch zones drop out

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Switch the oven off at the plug and let it cool.
  2. Wipe the touch panel gently with a soft cloth and an approved cleaner, keeping liquid away from the edges.
  3. Plug the oven back in and try a program.
  4. If the panel still misses touches or presses itself, stop using the oven.
  5. Note which part of the panel misbehaves, since an edge or a corner narrows the cause.

How a technician diagnoses error code B0

  1. Read the code and test the panel's response across its surface.
  2. Inspect the panel edges for moisture, grease or heat damage.
  3. Check the panel connector at the display board.
  4. Test the display board input from the panel.
  5. Replace the panel or display board only after the checks point to it.
! Leave this to a technician
  • A panel that presses itself can start or change a microwave program with nobody present, which is a control and safety matter.
  • The panel connects to boards that carry high voltage, so nobody should open the oven.
  • Liquid under the glass cannot be dried from outside and needs a technician to deal with it.

How error code B0 differs from similar codes

B1 on the same oven also points to the touch panel, with an emphasis on false touches. B0 covers missed touches and phantom ones.

B0Questions about ACP Amana error code B0
Can I keep cooking if the panel works some of the time?

We advise against it. A panel that cannot be trusted can start or change a program unexpectedly.

Will cleaning fix B0?

If grease or moisture at the edge was the cause, yes. If B0 returns, the panel or display board needs service.

Is B0 the same as A2?

No. B0 is the touch surface. A2 is the display board behind it.
