American Dryer Phase 6 Message: LINT dOOR
LINT dOOR means the lint drawer and door circuit is open. Close the lint drawer and door and press ENTER/START. If it will not clear, check the lint door switch and harness.
Medium: the dryer stops until the lint drawer and door close, and a stuck switch keeps it down.

What does American Dryer (ADC) LINT dOOR mean?
The lint drawer and its door have a switch, and the controller will not run while it reads open. The behavior matches MAIN dOOR: a start attempt with the lint drawer or door open shows LINT dOOR with an audio indication, and opening it during a cycle shuts the dryer down without audio. After the drawer and door are closed, the display reads PRESS START, and pressing ENTER/START continues the cycle. The manual lists two causes: the lint drawer or door is open, or the switch or harness has failed. Lint drawers are opened often for cleaning, so one pushed in only part way is the usual reason. If the drawer is fully in and the message stays, the switch may be out of line, or the harness may be open. Operators see the dryer refuse to start or stop right after the lint drawer was cleaned.

- Harness connector loose at the switch
Safe checks before calling for service
- Pull out the lint drawer, clear any lint from the slot and push it fully home.
- Close the lint door firmly.
- Press ENTER/START to continue.
- If the message stays, note it and call us.
How a technician diagnoses LINT dOOR
- Read the message and confirm LINT dOOR.
- Check the lint drawer and door fully close.
- Clear lint from around the switch.
- Check the switch and harness for an open circuit.
- Replace the switch if it fails.
- Switch and harness tests need a meter with the dryer isolated.
- Bypassing the lint door switch is not acceptable, since the lint screen protects the airflow.
- A switch hidden in lint may need cleaning inside the cabinet.
How LINT dOOR differs from similar codes
LINT dOOR is the lint drawer and door; MAIN dOOR is the main door.
