Common American Dryer (ADC) problems we fix
In plain words, the way kitchen and laundry staff describe them when they call.
Dryer has no heat
Burner lights, then shuts off
Hot or exhaust high temperature message
Tumbler is not rotating
dSFL on the display
Door or lint drawer open message
American Dryer Models We Repair
Our American Dryer work covers the AD-15 through AD-75 coin dryers with the older Phase 5 coin control or coin meter, the AD-170 on-premise dryer with Phase 5, and the AD-115, AD-120 and AD-170 with the Phase 7 microprocessor. We also repair the ML-120, ML-130, ML-145 and ML-170 dryers, and the larger ML-175 and ML-190 with Phase 6 or Phase 7. The older machines are still in service, and we keep them running.
No Heat, Overheating and Sensor Messages
When a dryer has no heat, we check the sail switch, the burner high limit, the ignition control and the gas valve. A burner that lights and shuts off sends us to the flame circuit and the airflow. A Hot or exhaust high temperature message means the dryer shut itself down to protect itself. Lint buildup and a restricted exhaust are the usual reasons, and they get worse faster in humid air like Miami’s and Houston’s.
If the display shows dSFL, either the heat sensing circuit has a problem or the 1/8 amp fuse on a Phase 5 control has blown. In that case the fuse is replaced, not the control. Rotation errors send us to the belt, the tumbler and the sensor, and door or lint drawer messages send us to the switches.
We close the gas valve before service. Quotes are in writing, and a 30-day workmanship warranty backs the work.
American Dryer (ADC) codes and alarms
What the display or the blinking light means, what is safe to check, and when to stop and call us.
American Dryer (ADC) lines and model numbers we service
Current and older lines. Find the number on the data plate and open its series for the usual repairs.
What does dSFL mean on my American Dryer?
It tells you the heat sensing circuit is not reading properly. On a Phase 5 control it can be a blown 1/8 amp fuse. We test the fuse and the sensor before replacing the control.
Why does my dryer stop on a high temperature message?
The dryer detected overheating and shut down. Clean the lint screen and the lint drawer, and clear the exhaust. If it returns, we check the vent, the limit and the sensor.
Do you repair the older AD coin dryers?
Yes. The AD-15 to AD-75 coin dryers and the AD-170 are older machines that many laundries still run. We repair them and say plainly when a repair no longer makes sense.
