Blendtec Stealth Blender Reset Errors: Messages Cleared by Cancel

Reset errors is a group of display messages on the Stealth 875 and 885 that can be cleared by pressing Cancel or cycling power. Note the exact wording first, because one message that does not return is usually harmless, while repeated ones point to the control. If a message comes back, call us with the wording.

Medium · inspection needed

Medium: the blender stops but most of these messages clear with a reset, unless they repeat.

What does Blendtec Reset errors mean?

The Stealth blenders watch many things at once: motor heat, motor load, the temperature sensor, the zero crossing signal from the power line, memory reads and writes, the touch controller and the blend cycle itself. When any of these checks fails, the control stops the blend and prints a text message. The manual lists these as clearable by pressing Cancel or by cycling power: Overtemp, Overload, Temp. Sensor not detected, Zero crossing not detected, Reset error, Read/Write error, Motor control error, Invalid blend cycle, Touch controller not detected and Touch controller output is invalid. Because the list is shared, the exact wording matters more than the group name. A single message after a power flicker is usually just a restart. A message that comes back, or one that appears the moment you plug the blender in, tells a technician which part of the control to test first.

Affected models and control systems

This page covers the Blendtec Stealth 875 and 885 only. Other Blendtec blenders have their own message lists.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

What you may notice

  • A message appears on the display and the blender stops
  • Blender works normally after Cancel or a power cycle
  • The same message returns after a few blends

Possible causes

Listed in Blendtec's documentation

  • A one-time message from a momentary power or sensor disturbance
  • Poor power quality or a loose plug
  • Loose temperature sensor or touch controller connections
  • A control board that keeps producing the messages

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind Reset errors on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • A shared outlet that drops voltage when a refrigerator compressor or another motor starts
  • A plug that has worked slightly loose and interrupts power for a moment during a blend
  • A blender cleaned while still wet around the touch pad, which can trigger the touch messages

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Press Cancel, or unplug and re-plug the blender.
  2. Write down the exact wording of the message before you clear it.
  3. Make sure the plug is firmly seated in the outlet.
  4. If the message does not clear, or returns, stop and call us with the wording and how often it happens.

How a technician diagnoses Reset errors

  1. Note the exact message on the display and ask how often it has appeared.
  2. Check the supply voltage and plug at the outlet under load.
  3. Test the temperature sensor and touch controller connections for the matching message.
  4. Check the control board's response after a clean power cycle.
  5. Replace the control only after the supply and connections are cleared.
! Leave this to a technician
  • One shared group covers about a dozen different checks, so the real cause depends on the exact wording and only a technician can trace it.
  • Sensor, touch controller and control board tests need the base opened, with line voltage inside.
  • Messages that keep returning point to the control board, which is a repair and not something a reset can solve.

Reset errorsQuestions about Blendtec Reset errors
Can I just press Cancel every time?

For a one-time message, yes. If the same message returns, note it and have it checked instead of clearing it again and again.

Does this group cover the Connoisseur 825?

No. This list is for the Stealth 875 and 885. Other models have their own messages.

What if the message appears right at power on?

That points to a connection or the control rather than a heavy load. Leave it unplugged and call us with the wording.
