Huebsch Quantum Topload Washer Error Code E oF: Overflow

E oF on a Huebsch Quantum topload washer is an overflow error: the water in the tub stayed above the overflow level for more than five minutes. Close both water supply valves right away and switch off power at the disconnect. Call us once the supply is off, so we can schedule service.

Medium · inspection needed

High: water above the overflow level can flood the floor and reach powered parts.

What does Huebsch error code E oF mean?

The Quantum control has an overflow level above the normal wash level. If the water stays above that level for more than five minutes, it flags the problem and shows "E oF". The reasoning is that the tub is taking in water faster than it leaves, or that the level sensing is wrong. Customers see a very full tub and, in a bad case, water on the floor. The manual lists fill valves that do not close fully, the drain path and pump, the pressure sensor and its air tube, and the wiring to the valves. A valve stuck open can keep adding water even while the control is trying to drain, so the first task is to take away the supply instead of waiting for the machine to sort itself out. Once the supply is off, the tub can be dealt with safely and the cause can be tested.

Affected models and control systems

This page applies to Huebsch Quantum topload washers in the TLW13C family with the electronic control. Other controllers describe overflow differently or not at all.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

What you may notice

  • Tub filled to the top or above the normal level
  • "E oF" shown on the display
  • Water on the floor around the washer
  • Fill sound continuing after the level looks right

Possible causes

Listed in Huebsch's documentation

  • Fill valves that do not close fully
  • Drain path or pump not moving water
  • Pressure sensor or air tube giving a wrong level
  • Wiring to the valves keeping them energized

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E oF on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • A debris-held fill valve combined with a partly blocked drain so water arrives faster than it leaves
  • An air tube full of water that makes the sensor read low, so the control keeps filling

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Close both water supply valves to the washer right away.
  2. Switch off the washer's power at its disconnect, and stay clear of standing water near electrical parts.
  3. Do not try to bail the tub while the machine has power.
  4. Call us once the supply is off, and tell us how high the water rose.

How a technician diagnoses error code E oF

  1. Read the code and confirm the supply is closed and power is isolated.
  2. Check the drain path and pump for a blockage once the tub is safely handled.
  3. Test the fill valves for passing water when de-energized.
  4. Inspect the air tube and pressure sensor.
  5. Check the valve wiring and replace only the part the test condemns.
! Leave this to a technician
  • Standing water near live parts is a shock hazard that calls for isolation and proper handling.
  • Testing valve wiring means working in the energized control after the tub is under control.
  • Judging a pressure sensor and air tube takes measurements, not a quick look.

How error code E oF differs from similar codes

E oF is the overflow message of the Quantum topload. E LF is the leak-during-fill message found on several controllers, while E oF is based on time above the overflow level.

E oFQuestions about Huebsch error code E oF
Can I let the washer drain by itself?

If it will drain, power can stay off while you check, but close the supply first.

Is E oF just a sensor problem?

It can be, but you can't tell without testing, so treat it as a real overflow.

Will it clear by itself?

Only after the cause is found. Water that keeps rising will bring it back.
