Huebsch Washer-Extractor Error Code Ed11: Invalid Command

Ed11 on a Huebsch CHM495R washer-extractor means the motor drive was handed a movement command it does not accept. The manual says the cycle continues, so let the wash finish and write down which cycle and step was running when the code appeared.

Medium · inspection needed

Low: the manual says the cycle continues, so the machine keeps working while the setting is reviewed.

What does Huebsch error code Ed11 mean?

The CHM495R front-end control does not turn the basket itself. It sends movement commands to a motor drive, such as a speed, a direction or a ramp, and the drive compares each request with the limits stored inside it. When a request falls outside those limits, the drive refuses it and reports back, and the control shows Ed11 as an invalid command message. The manual states that the cycle continues, so an operator usually sees the code flash briefly while the wash carries on. The code shows the control and the drive disagree about what is allowed. That can be a programmed setting that is out of range, or it can be a control board and drive that were not made as a matched pair, for instance after one of them was replaced. A code that returns on the same step every time points at the programming for that step.

Affected models and control systems

This page covers Huebsch washer-extractors in the CHM495R family, 20 to 100 lb, with the front-end control described in the programming manual.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

What you may notice

  • Ed11 appears briefly on the display while the wash keeps running
  • The same code shows up again at the same step of a particular cycle
  • The cycle finishes normally even though the message was shown

Possible causes

Listed in Huebsch's documentation

  • Cycle setting asking the drive for a movement outside its limits
  • Control board or drive replaced recently and not matched to each other
  • Data link between the control and the drive disturbed
  • Limits stored in the drive differing from the control's programming

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code Ed11 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • A custom cycle step with a spin or tumble speed set higher than this extractor's drive accepts
  • A cycle copied from a different capacity machine and loaded without adjusting the motor values

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Let the cycle continue; the manual shows no action is needed while it runs.
  2. Write down which cycle and which step were running when Ed11 appeared.
  3. Do not change programmed settings to chase the message; leave them as they are until they are reviewed.
  4. Give those notes to the technician, along with whether the control or drive was ever replaced.

How a technician diagnoses error code Ed11

  1. Read the code and note which cycle step triggered it; check whether it repeats on the same step.
  2. Review the programmed values for that step, such as motor speed, direction and ramp, against the limits for this capacity.
  3. Confirm the control and the drive are the matching part numbers for this model if either was replaced.
  4. Inspect the cable and connectors between the control and the drive with the power locked off.
  5. Reload or correct the program, then run the cycle and watch for the code before closing the job.
! Leave this to a technician
  • Reading and correcting motor-movement values means working in the machine's service programming, where a wrong entry changes how the basket spins.
  • Checking the drive connections requires opening panels on a machine fed by live three-phase power.
  • A setting error and a mismatched control and drive look the same from the front, so telling them apart takes the manual's limits and a meter.

How error code Ed11 differs from similar codes

Ed11 is an invalid-command message and does not stop the cycle. Codes such as EdF1 on Quantum frontload washers stop the drive instead.

Ed11Questions about Huebsch error code Ed11
Can I keep washing while Ed11 is showing?

Yes. The manual says the cycle continues, so loads can keep going. Just record when it appears.

Will Ed11 clear by itself?

The message goes away as the cycle moves on, but it will return whenever the same step asks the drive for something it refuses.

Does it mean the drive is broken?

Not necessarily. The drive is doing its job by refusing the request. The setting that sent the request is the first thing to check.
