Huebsch Quantum Washer Error Code EI0E: Infrared Encryption Error

EI0E is an encryption error on the infrared link, meaning the control could not decode the data from the external device. Re-aim and try again, and if it persists check that the security code on the handheld matches the one set in the washer.

Medium · inspection needed

Low: a programming-link security message; washing is not affected.

What does Huebsch error code EI0E mean?

Data sent to a Quantum washer by infrared is protected with a security code, so only a matching device can change its settings. The control decodes each message with its own copy of that code. If the result is not readable, it rejects the message and displays EI0E. The wash circuits are not part of this check, and the machine keeps washing. Owners see the code during programming or data collection. The commonest reason is that the security code in the washer and the one in the handheld differ, for instance after one of them was reset. On the topload control the same rejection can mean a device built for a different machine type. A poor aim or a hazy window can also garble the data so that it fails decoding. If the codes match, the aim is good and the window is clean, the control's stored security setting or its receiver is what to test.

Affected models and control systems

This applies to Quantum frontload washers in the FLW1535C family and Quantum topload washers in the TLW13C family, including Huebsch units.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

What you may notice

  • EI0E appears right after the handheld starts sending
  • The device is refused in every attempt while the aim looks right
  • Washing continues normally

Possible causes

Listed in Huebsch's documentation

  • Handheld and washer not sharing the same security code
  • Device or file not made for this machine type
  • Infrared aim and window
  • Stored security setting in the control

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code EI0E on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • A security code changed on the washer during an earlier programming session and not updated on the handheld
  • A replacement handheld shipped with a different factory code

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Re-aim the external device and try again.
  2. If it persists, check the security code on the device against the one set in the washer.
  3. Use only a device meant for this type of Quantum washer.
  4. When the code stays, record the device and its code, and we can take it from there on a visit.

How a technician diagnoses error code EI0E

  1. Read the code and ask which device was used and whether the security code was ever changed.
  2. Compare the security code in the handheld with the washer's setting.
  3. Confirm the device is built for this machine type.
  4. Repeat the exchange with a known-good, matching device.
  5. If decoding still fails, test the receiver and the control's stored setting before replacing the board.
! Leave this to a technician
  • The security code is held in the control's service programming, and changing it incorrectly can lock out the programming tool.
  • The receiver and board lie behind the front panel near live 208 to 240 V circuits.
  • Matching codes across several washers and handhelds takes the owner's records and the maker's procedure.

How error code EI0E differs from similar codes

EI0E is a decoding failure from a security mismatch. EI09 is a damaged packet found by a check value, and EI03 is a refused command.

EI0EQuestions about Huebsch error code EI0E
What does encryption have to do with a washer?

The programming link is protected by a security code, so only a matching tool can change the settings.

Will it clear after I retry?

Only if the cause was a poor aim. A code mismatch will repeat.

Can I wash meanwhile?

Yes. EI0E does not affect the wash cycles.
