Kolpak Walk-In Cooler Error Code ROOMTEMP2 SENSOR ALARM: Temp 2 Shorted or Open
ROOMTEMP2 SENSOR ALARM means the Temp 2 input is shorted or open. The stand-alone Deluxe Display cannot read that sensor. The manual says to scroll the Alarms & Variables menu to see active alarms; a technician should check the sensor and its wiring.
Low: one sensor reading is lost, and the manual does not say cooling stops.

What does Kolpak ROOMTEMP2 SENSOR ALARM mean?
The ArcticFox Deluxe Display can be used on its own, without the OEM controller. In that stand-alone setup it reads temperature sensors on its own inputs, called Temp 1, Temp 2 and Temp 3. For a room temperature reading on Temp 2, the display checks the sensor circuit. If the input is shorted, or open because the sensor is disconnected or the wire is broken, the controller cannot produce a real temperature. It then shows the text alarm ROOMTEMP2 SENSOR ALARM. The manual states only the condition, Temp 2 input shorted or open, and offers no causes or steps beyond reviewing active alarms in the Alarms & Variables menu. It also lists a DISP CLEAR ALARM variable that clears alarms set in the Deluxe Display. The alarm is about the sensor circuit rather than the room, so the room itself may be at a normal temperature.
Affected models and control systems

Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind ROOMTEMP2 SENSOR ALARM on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Temp 2 sensor unplugged or its wire broken
- Cable pinched or shorted against a metal surface
- Moisture or corrosion at the sensor connection
- Sensor assigned to the Temp 2 input but never installed
Safe checks before calling for service
- Scroll the Alarms & Variables menu on the Display to see which alarms are active, and write them down.
- Check the room temperature with a separate thermometer to see whether the room is cooling.
- Look at any visible sensor cable for damage, without pulling or cutting anything.
- Give the technician the alarm text and the thermometer reading.
How a technician diagnoses ROOMTEMP2 SENSOR ALARM
- Read the active alarms and the input setup in the Alarms & Variables menu.
- Inspect the Temp 2 sensor and cable.
- Measure sensor resistance against its chart and test the cable for continuity and shorts.
- Replace the sensor or repair the cable.
- Clear the alarm and confirm it does not return.
- The sensor terminals are inside the Display housing, powered while the unit runs.
- A meter and a sensor chart are needed to separate a bad sensor from a bad wire.
- Clearing alarms in the menu before the repair only hides the problem.

Does this alarm mean the room is too warm?
No. It means the Temp 2 input is shorted or open, so the Display cannot read it.
How do I clear it?
The manual lists a DISP CLEAR ALARM variable for alarms set in the Display. Clearing it does not repair the sensor, so the alarm will return if the circuit is still bad.
Is this on every Kolpak walk-in?
No. It is listed for the stand-alone Deluxe Display, not the OEM controller alarm list.
