Vitamix Commercial Blender Error Code CORRUPT DATA: Program Data

CORRUPT DATA on the Vitamix The Quiet One, model VM0145, means the stored programming data cannot be read. Turn the blender off and on again, as the owner's manual directs. If the message returns, a technician should check the control.

Medium · inspection needed

Low: the blender is usually still sound, and a restart is the first step.

What does Vitamix CORRUPT DATA mean?

The Quiet One keeps its blend programs in memory so that each button runs the cycle that was set. When the machine starts up or runs a program, the control reads that memory and checks that the data is complete and consistent. If the check fails, it cannot trust the program, so it shows CORRUPT DATA on the display instead of running a cycle that might behave differently from what was set. The message does not mean the motor or container is damaged. A power flicker at the wrong moment, a loose plug or a brief surge can disturb stored values. Switching the machine off and on again makes the control reload its data, and in many cases that is enough. If the message comes back, the stored programs or the memory on the control board may need service.

Affected models and control systems

This applies to the Vitamix The Quiet One, model VM0145 with display, per the VM50031 instruction manual troubleshooting section.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

What you may notice

  • CORRUPT DATA in the display window
  • Programmed blends not starting as set
  • Message appearing right after power-up
  • Cycle times different from what was programmed

Possible causes

Listed in Vitamix's documentation

  • Programming data that the control cannot read
  • Power disturbance just before the message
  • Memory problem on the control board if it repeats

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind CORRUPT DATA on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • Outlet shared with other equipment that causes voltage dips when it starts
  • Plug partly out of the wall so power cuts out during a cycle
  • Programming change interrupted by switching the machine off too soon

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Turn the machine off and on again to reset the programming, as the owner's manual directs.
  2. Check that the plug is firmly in the outlet.
  3. Run a program and see whether the message stays away.
  4. Do not open the base or reach inside.
  5. If it returns, note what happened just before and what program was in use.

How a technician diagnoses CORRUPT DATA

  1. Read the message and ask when it began and what happened beforehand.
  2. Check supply voltage and the outlet with a meter.
  3. Inspect the power cord and plug for damage.
  4. Power-cycle and reload the programs, then test each cycle.
  5. Check for repeat at start-up, which suggests a memory problem on the board.
  6. Replace the control board only if the data keeps failing.
! Leave this to a technician
  • The base holds the motor and control board on mains voltage that is not safe to open.
  • Reloading programs on the control uses the machine's own data and requires service knowledge.
  • If the memory is failing, board replacement and re-setup are technician work.

CORRUPT DATAQuestions about Vitamix CORRUPT DATA
Will CORRUPT DATA clear itself?

Often a restart reloads the programs. If it comes back, the data is not being kept.
