Repairs this series usually needs
- Kettle slow to heat
- Jacket steam pressure problems
- Tilt mechanism stiff or leaking
- Controls not holding temperature
- Drawoff valve dripping
KEL kettles heat with electricity and cook through a steam jacket. The model on the data plate shows the size, such as KEL-40 or KEL-60, and a T means tilting. Others, like the KEL-40-TSH, are built for a particular setup.
Hot contents and hot jacket surfaces are the danger here, so let the kettle cool well before anyone cleans or inspects it. When we service one, we look at the heating controls, the jacket and its safety valve, the tilt gear, and the drawoff valve and seals. A kettle that heats slowly is often telling us about a jacket or control problem, not the food.
Older KEL units are still in service in kitchens. We repair them, with the price written down before work.

It marks a tilting kettle, and the number is the size. Read the full model off the data plate and tell us when you book, so we can confirm the parts before we arrive.
Can I keep using a kettle that heats slowly?
It may still cook, but slow heat can signal a control or jacket problem. Let it cool and call us. We test it and write up the repair for you.
Is it safe to inspect a leaking drawoff valve myself?
No. Wait until the kettle and contents have cooled completely. A hot valve or jacket can burn you. Call us and we will check the seals.
