Repairs this series usually needs

  1. E0 air probe and E1 defrost probe alarms
  2. EE and EF parameter reading errors
  3. Frost on the evaporator when defrost ends wrongly
  4. Warm case from a dirty condenser or blocked airflow
  5. Case run above its design conditions

The SSRC and ESSRC cases are the self-service grab-and-go merchandisers found in delis, convenience stores and cafeterias. Model numbers include SSRC2452, SSRC5052, SSRC7752, their R remote versions, ESSRC3652 and the ERSSC series. A Carel electronic control watches two probes: one for case air and one on the evaporator coil.

The maker designs these cases for a store environment of no more than 75 F and 55 percent humidity. E0 and E1 are probe errors, and EE and EF are parameter reading errors.

We check the condenser and airflow, shelf loading and defrost, then the probes and the control. We give a written price first.

FAQFederal Industries SSRC and ESSRC Self-Service Display Cases questions
What store conditions does the case expect?

The maker designs the case for ambient air of 75 F and 55 percent relative humidity at most. A hotter, more humid store lowers performance, so air conditioning matters.

How does the case defrost?

It defrosts three times a day, about every eight hours, and also runs an on-demand defrost. The coil probe tells the control when the coil has warmed enough.

What if the case shows E0 or E1?

Those are probe errors. Mute the alarm with the wrench button, check temperatures with a thermometer, and call us to test the probe and its wiring.
