Repairs this series usually needs
- Grinder that smears from a dull knife or plate
- Hub drive that slips
- Overload
- Leaks
The ALMFC12 and ALMF12 are Univex grinder heads that attach to the PTO hub of an SRM mixer. The mixer provides the power, so the attachment has no motor of its own. The model number is on the head, and it should match your mixer.
Unplug the mixer before attaching or removing the head, and never reach past the guard. If the grinder smears, a dull knife or a plate that is not flat is the usual cause. If the hub drive slips, we check the hub and the drive on the mixer itself, since the head depends on both.
Because these heads depend on the mixer’s hub, we look at both when a grinder does not perform. A written price comes first, and we tell you plainly if a worn head is not worth replacing parts on.
About this series
- PTO-driven grinder heads
- Fit the PTO hub on SRM mixers
- Auger, knife and plate in a head
How does the attachment get its power?
From the PTO hub on the SRM mixer. If the hub slips or does not turn, the grinder will not turn either, so we check the mixer drive as well.
Why does the grinder smear?
A dull knife or a plate that is not flat is the usual reason. We replace them and check how the head seats in the hub.
Can a worn hub make the grinder smear?
A slipping hub can reduce the speed of the auger, which makes the meat smear. We check the hub drive along with the knife and plate before we say what is needed.
