The VC gas convection ovens are Vulcan full-size ovens with a solid-state temperature control board. The data plate shows the model, such as a VC4GD, VC6GC or HGC5D. The VC5 control shows E# numbers on the temperature display, from E1 to E7, and each points us to a different part of the oven.
The rear air intake deserves attention. When flour, grease and dust clog it, the control board overheats and the oven stops with E4. A burner that does not light, with an ignition light on for more than 20 seconds across three tries, points to the gas supply. We check the gas valves, ignitor and flame sensor in order.
We repair current and older VC ovens and say plainly when a repair does not make sense.

What do the E numbers mean?
Each number points to a different part: probe, temperature rise, board overheat, board output or ignition. Tell us the number when you call, since it saves time on the visit.
What should I do about E4?
Keep the rear of the oven clear and ask us to clean the air intake and check the cooling fan. A clogged intake is the usual reason the control board overheats.
Can older HGC5 ovens still be repaired?
Yes. Older Vulcan convection ovens are common in kitchens, and we repair them. We confirm the parts before the visit and quote the job in writing before we start.
