Continental Girbau Washer Error Code ALn / V-11 and V-14: Unbalanced Amperage
ALn / V-11 and ALn / V-14 mean the inverter and motor are drawing unbalanced current across their three legs. Restart the washer once. If the alarm returns, a technician should check the input connections and the wiring between the inverter and the motor.
High: the inverter stops the drive to protect the motor, and the washer will not run.

What does Continental Girbau error code ALn / V-11 mean?
A three-phase motor draws about the same current on each of its three legs. The inverter keeps an eye on that balance, and when one leg carries noticeably more or less than the others it flags an unbalanced amperage draw and the control displays ALn / V-11 or ALn / V-14. The ST-101 sheet lists these two together. V-12 is an inverter and microprocessor incompatibility and V-13 is inverter high temperature, so those two are separate alarms and not part of a V-11 to V-14 range. The manual's cause is loose or poorly crimped input connections, and its checks follow that idea. The input voltage connections must be tight and well crimped, the input voltage itself is measured, the supply voltage to the KA1 relay is checked, the inverter is cleaned, and the wiring between the inverter and the motor is inspected. A lead that has lost contact on one phase makes the other legs work harder, which is exactly what this alarm reports.
Affected models and control systems
Continental Girbau E-Series washer-extractors with Logi, LogiPro or Vended control, sheet names EH020, EM025, EH060, RMG055 and smaller. V-12 and V-13 are separate alarms on the same sheet.

What you may notice
- ALn / V-11 or V-14 on the display
- Motor hums or sounds rough just before the stop
- Drum fails to reach spin speed
Possible causes
Listed in Continental Girbau's documentation
- Loose or poorly crimped input connections
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code ALn / V-11 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- One motor lead with a burned terminal after months of drum vibration
- Single-phase dropout on the building feed
- Motor winding that has begun to short on one leg
Safe checks before calling for service
- Press stop and let the drum stop turning.
- Turn the washer off at its disconnect for a minute, then restart once.
- Notice whether the motor hums or smells hot, and switch off if it does.
- Leave the electrical panel closed. Tell the technician if a breaker tripped or a phase light on the building panel is out.
How a technician diagnoses error code ALn / V-11
- Check that the alarm is V-11 or V-14 and not V-12 or V-13.
- Inspect the input voltage connections for tightness and crimp quality.
- Measure input voltage on all three lines and the supply to the KA1 relay.
- Clean the inverter and inspect the wiring between the inverter and the motor.
- Measure amp draw on each motor leg before replacing the inverter or motor.
- Checking crimps and measuring each leg of a three-phase supply is work on live high-voltage conductors.
- A loose connection can look fine and still overheat, so it needs a proper torque and meter check.
- Unbalanced current can damage the motor if the washer keeps running.
How error code ALn / V-11 differs from similar codes
V-11 and V-14 are about balance between legs. V-12 (inverter mismatch) and V-13 (high temperature) are different alarms.

Is V-11 to V-14 one alarm?
No. Only V-11 and V-14 mean unbalanced amperage. V-12 and V-13 are separate.
Could a bad motor cause this?
It can, but the manual points first at loose or poorly crimped input connections.
Is it safe to run the washer with this alarm?
No. Unbalanced current can overheat the motor, so leave it off until a technician checks it.
