Continental Girbau Inteli Washer Error Codes 4 and 34: Inverter Sequence
Codes 4 (inverter sequence failure) and 34 (inverter disconnection) are communication problems between the inverter and the microprocessor, handled like code 2. Restart the washer once. If they return, a technician checks line voltage and the communication cable.
High: the inverter link is broken and the drum cannot be driven.

What does Continental Girbau error code 4 mean?
Code 4 appears when the sequence of messages between the inverter and the microprocessor breaks down. The inverter and the control are supposed to exchange commands and answers in a fixed order, and if the order is broken, the control halts the cycle and displays 4 (Inverter sequence failure). The manual groups it with codes 2 and 34 and says to take the same actions as for code 2. Code 34 is listed on the same row as an inverter disconnection, meaning the inverter has dropped off the link. In practice the shop checks are the incoming line voltage to the inverter within 10 percent of its rating, a clean and well-seated communication cable at both ends, and, depending on the model, the discharge resistor and earth (RMG055 and smaller) or the inductor (EH060 and larger). No failed-part causes are listed for these codes in the sheet, so the diagnosis is by elimination of the supply and cable first.
Affected models and control systems
Continental Girbau E-Series washer-extractors with Inteli control, sheet names RMG055 and smaller and EH060 and larger. Washers with Logi, LogiPro or Vended control use ALn alarms instead.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Code 4 or 34 on the display
- Cycle stops partway through
- Washer works for a while after restart, then stops again
Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code 4 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Cable that works until the machine vibrates at spin
- Brief supply sag when the drum accelerates
- Corrosion on the inverter connector from steam and detergent vapor
Safe checks before calling for service
- Press stop and keep clear until the drum is still.
- Turn the washer off for one minute, then turn it on and start the program.
- Notice whether the code appears during acceleration or at the beginning.
- Keep panels closed and give the technician the exact code, 4 or 34.
How a technician diagnoses error code 4
- Read the code and confirm whether it is 4 or 34.
- Verify incoming line voltage is within 10 percent of the rating.
- Inspect, clean and reseat the communication cable at both ends.
- Check the discharge resistor and earth (RMG055 and smaller) or the inductor (EH060 and larger).
- Replace the inverter or microprocessor only when the link and supply test good.
- Line voltage and cable tests are done in the electrical section on live conductors.
- Inverters hold charge and should not be handled by operators.
- Intermittent link problems need patient testing under real vibration to prove.
How error code 4 differs from similar codes
Code 4 is a sequence failure and 34 is a disconnection. Code 2 is the plain communication loss and shares the same checks.

Are codes 4 and 34 the same?
They share a row and the same actions. Code 34 is the inverter disconnecting from the link.
Can restarting help?
Once. If the code returns at the same point in the cycle, the cause is a real wiring or supply problem.
Why is this like code 2?
The manual sends you to the same checks: line voltage, cable and, by model, the resistor or the inductor.
