Continental Girbau Inteli Washer Error Codes 36 and 37: Inverter Low Voltage
Code 36 means the inverter voltage is below nominal and code 37 means an input phase is lost. Restart once. If they return, a technician checks the supply voltage and phase balance and the contacts at KA1 and the inverter filter.
High: low voltage or a lost phase can damage the motor and drive, so the washer must stay off.

What does Continental Girbau error code 36 mean?
Both codes concern the electrical power reaching the inverter. Code 36 is low voltage: the inverter reads less than its nominal level and stops. Code 37 is a phase loss: one of the three input phases is missing, so the motor would run poorly and overheat if it were allowed to continue. The display shows 36 (Inverter low voltage) or 37 (Inverter phase loss). The manual's actions are different for each. For 36, verify the supply voltage at the inverter is in range, and consider a bad inverter. For 37, check that the phase-to-phase voltage and amp draw are balanced, check the wiring, and make sure there is no voltage drop across the KA1 contactor or the inverter filter. The sheet gives checks for this code but no separate list of causes. A contactor that is burned or a filter that is open on one leg will look like a lost phase, so the voltage drop test is how the technician finds which part is responsible.
Affected models and control systems
Continental Girbau E-Series washer-extractors with Inteli control, sheet names RMG055 and smaller and EH060 and larger. Washers with Logi, LogiPro or Vended control use ALn alarms instead.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Code 36 or 37 on the display
- Motor hums or the drum fails to start
- Alarm worse at busy times of day
Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code 36 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Burned contact on one pole of the KA1 contactor
- Building feed with one leg low or open
- Loose lug at the inverter filter on a single phase
Safe checks before calling for service
- Press stop and wait for the lock light to go out and the drum to stop.
- Let the washer sit powered down for a minute, then start again.
- Ask whether other three-phase equipment in the building has acted up.
- Leave panels closed and note which code appeared, 36 or 37.
How a technician diagnoses error code 36
- Read the code: 36 or 37.
- Measure the supply voltage at the inverter and compare with the allowed range.
- For 37, measure phase-to-phase voltage and amp draw on each leg.
- Check for voltage drop across the KA1 contactor and the inverter filter.
- Inspect the wiring and replace the failed contactor, filter or inverter.
- Phase and voltage drop tests are made on live 208-240 V or higher conductors.
- A lost phase can damage the motor if the washer keeps running.
- A building feed problem needs a qualified electrician.
How error code 36 differs from similar codes
Code 36 is low voltage and code 37 is phase loss. Code 7 is high voltage on the DC bus.

Is low voltage the same as a lost phase?
No. Low voltage is a weak supply; a lost phase is one conductor missing.
Is it safe to restart?
Once. Running on a lost phase can damage the motor.
Where is KA1?
It is the contactor that switches power to the inverter, so a technician checks it.
