Dexter Coin Washer Error Code F2: Slow Fill Error
F2 (SLOW FILL ERROR) means the washer did not reach its low water level within seven minutes. The cycle carries on, but loads may get less water than they should. Check that the hot and cold valves are fully open and the hoses are not kinked, then call us if the message returns.
Medium: the washer keeps running, but loads may be underwashed until the slow fill is corrected.

What does Dexter error code F2 mean?
Every Dexter VFD washer fills the tub, measures how high the water has climbed, and starts washing once it reaches the low level. The controller starts a timer when the fill valves open. If the low level is not reached in seven minutes, the controller records F2 (SLOW FILL ERROR). Unlike many messages, this one is a warning: the cycle continues, so nobody notices anything wrong at the time. The risk is quieter. A load that ran with too little water may come out less clean, and the customer blames the laundromat. The maker's document lists water valves, incoming pressure, blocked flow, and a drain valve that is not closing properly. That last one matters because a washer that fills and drains at the same time can look exactly like one with poor supply pressure. Fill time is also a useful trend: a washer that used to fill in three minutes and now takes six is telling you something before the seven-minute limit is crossed.
Affected models and control systems
Dexter C-Series and T-series coin washers with a VFD, from the T-300 to the T-1450, such as the T-650 Express. Older non-VFD washers report fill problems differently.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- F2 (SLOW FILL ERROR) appears while the cycle keeps running
- Customers report loads that look underwashed
- Water seems to trickle into the tub
- Fill takes much longer on this washer than on the one beside it
Possible causes
Listed in Dexter's documentation
- Water valve not opening fully
- Low incoming water pressure
- Blocked water flow
- Drain valve not closing properly
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code F2 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Fine debris from building plumbing packed into the inlet screens behind the hose connections
- A hot-water supply that sags when several machines in the laundromat fill at once
- A valve coil that opens weakly, so one of the two supplies barely contributes
Safe checks before calling for service
- See that the hot and cold shutoff valves behind the washer stand fully open.
- Look for a kinked or crushed hose without moving the washer.
- Make sure no shared shutoff for the laundromat has been closed.
- Run one test cycle and watch the fill from the front.
- If F2 shows again, call us and tell us whether hot, cold, or both seem slow.
How a technician diagnoses error code F2
- Read the code and confirm the washer is still running its cycles.
- Measure supply pressure at the hoses with a gauge, hot and cold separately.
- Pull and inspect the inlet screens for debris.
- Check that each fill valve opens and passes full flow when energized.
- Check the drain valve closes fully and the tub is not draining during fill.
- Repair the cause found, then time a fill to confirm it is back under the limit.
- Pressure readings and valve tests need a gauge and live water and mains work at the valve coils.
- A leaking drain valve and a weak supply give the same message, and telling them apart takes a timed fill.
- Hoses and valves sit behind the cabinet, where a wrong reconnection can cause a leak.

Can I keep running the washer with F2?
Yes for a short time, since the cycle continues. But loads may be underwashed, so we suggest a call soon.
Does F2 mean the washer will stop?
No. It only reports that the low level took longer than seven minutes.
Is it always the water supply?
No. A drain valve that does not seal can mimic a weak supply, so both get checked.
