The teppanyaki griddles are Wolf’s gas cooktops with the models TYG48C and TYG60C. The plate is one large, flat surface that must heat evenly, since food is cooked directly on it.
An uneven teppanyaki plate sends us to the burners, the pilots and the thermostat. A yellow or lifting flame points to dirt in the burner or a gas pressure problem. Grease on the plate and trough causes smoke and, over time, damage, so we also look at how the unit is cleaned.
Never stay in the kitchen with a gas smell, and call the gas utility once you are outside. Older griddles are repaired, with the price written first and a candid view when a repair is not sensible.

Why does my teppanyaki plate heat unevenly?
Any of three things: a burner with buildup, a pilot flame that is weak, or a thermostat that has drifted. Each gets tested one at a time. Then we adjust the flame and check the pilot.
Can you repair older teppanyaki griddles?
Yes. Older Wolf gas griddles are in our scope. The quote is written, and a repair that is not worth the money is called out. The work is warranted for 30 days.
