- KDL-60-T
- KDL-100
Repairs this series usually needs
- Kettle not heating
- Steam valve leaking or sticking
- Jacket not holding temperature
- Tilt mechanism problems
KDL kettles take steam from a supply line instead of making it themselves, so the kettle holds no burner or heating element of its own. Check the data plate for KDL-60-T or KDL-100.
When a direct steam kettle heats poorly, the cause can sit on either side of the kettle: the steam supply or the kettle’s own valves and jacket. We check the inlet valve, the controls, the trap and the jacket. A leaking or sticking valve is a common reason for uneven heat. Let the kettle and supply lines cool before anyone works near them.
If your building steam supply is the problem, we tell you so, and we do not sell you kettle parts you do not need.

No. It uses steam delivered from a supply line, which is why we check both the kettle and its steam inlet whenever a KDL will not heat. The problem may sit on either side of the connection.
Why would a steam valve stick?
Mineral deposits and ordinary wear build up inside valves over the years. We test how the valve moves, then clean or replace it as needed once you have approved the written price.
Is it safe to touch the steam lines?
No. The lines and the jacket stay very hot long after the steam is shut off. Let everything cool before anyone gets close, and then call us to look at the valve or the line.
